How did working directly with Derrick in the Kenya team affect day-to-day execution?
Because Cosatto operates on a hybrid basis and we all work with Microsoft Teams anyway, Derrick integrated almost seamlessly. It’s been easy to allocate tasks and steadily grow his responsibilities to the point where he now looks after integral parts of our day-to-day site operation.
What impact did that have on speed and workflows?
From the start Derrick has been very eager to learn and always keeps the company’s best interests in mind. He picks up tasks really quickly and makes sure to communicate any issues and isn’t afraid to ask questions to get a task across the line. This has created a much smoother handover process, I can now delegate complex site updates or admin tasks with total confidence, knowing they’ll be executed accurately without large delays due to team capacity.
How does execution feel now during busier trading periods?
Even though the team is technically smaller than it was last year, execution feels much more manageable during peak periods. Having Derrick on board has been instrumental in helping us meet the business demand for growth. He has significantly freed up my time to focus more on strategy work by taking over more of the day-to-day requirements.
